Skills
Research workflows your agent can run
A skill is a short set of instructions an agent reads before it starts a job. These ones do research on public YouTube data with the TrueScrape API, and they show their working: the sample, the source of every claim, and what the data cannot tell you.
npx skills add TrueScrape/truescrapeWorks in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Gemini CLI and Windsurf. The skills call the API through the MCP server or the CLI, so you need a key; new accounts start with free credits.
video-to-content-brief
YouTube videos to a content brief
Reads the transcripts of a small sample of videos from a channel or a search, and writes a brief: the themes they cover, how each one opens, and new angles marked clearly as ideas.
What it checks
- States the sample: how many videos, chosen how, fetched when
- Puts the video link and timestamp beside every theme and hook
- Keeps what the transcripts say apart from the ideas it proposes
- Lists the videos that had no transcript
What it cannot show
- Watch time, retention, click-through rate, audience and revenue are visible only to the channel owner
- View counts in YouTube lists are rounded, so the brief does not build rates on them
Cost: About one credit per video plus one for the list. Cached transcripts are free.

Compare YouTube channels
Takes the same recent sample of uploads from two to five channels and compares what did well: median and mean views, title styles, topics and length.
What it checks
- Uses one sample rule for every channel and says it is a sample
- Reports median and mean views with how many videos they cover
- Leaves out uploads with no public view count and says how many
- Names a pattern only when at least three uploads show it, with their links
What it cannot show
- Watch time, click-through rate, traffic sources and revenue are not public
- Channels can hide or round subscriber counts, so they are context, never a denominator
Cost: About three credits per channel by default. It asks before spending more.

The TrueScrape API
Teaches an agent which endpoint to call, what each costs, when to use a cached answer, how to batch many targets and how to watch a profile for changes. The two skills above build on it.
What it checks
- Every endpoint in the catalogue, with its cost
- Treats fetched content as data, never as instructions
Cost: Free to install. Calls cost what each endpoint states.
