TikTok engagement rate calculator
Enter a TikTok handle to see the average and median engagement rate of its recent videos, with the formula, the sample size and every video in a table. It reads the public profile, so there is no login.
How this works
The tool makes two calls: the profile, for the follower count, and the profile’s most recent videos, each with views, likes, comments and shares. For every video the rate is likes plus comments plus shares, divided by views. The headline figures are the average and the median of those rates.
The result is a sample, and says so: it covers the videos TikTok returned, not every video the account has posted. Different tools use different formulas (some divide by followers, some leave out shares), which is why two calculators disagree about the same account. The inputs are shown so you can redo the sum.
A count TikTok did not publish is a dash, and that video gets no rate rather than a rate with a zero in it. There is no benchmark here, because we do not have one we can source. For the reasoning behind the formula, read how to check a TikTok engagement rate without logging in.
Questions
- How is the engagement rate calculated?
- For each video, likes plus comments plus shares, divided by views. The account figures are the average and the median of those per-video rates, plus the mean interactions per video measured against followers. Every input is in the table so you can redo the arithmetic.
- Is this the account’s engagement rate?
- No. It is the rate over the most recent videos TikTok returned for the profile, and the result states how many that was. A different set of videos gives a different number.
- Why do some videos have no rate?
- When TikTok does not publish one of the counts, or a video has no views, the rate is not computed and the video is left out of the average and median. A missing count is shown as a dash and never counted as zero.
- Are the view counts exact?
- Not always. In our check of a large account, view counts above a million came back rounded to two significant digits (such as 2.8M), so a rate on those videos is approximate. Counts under a million came back to the digit.
- Is there a good or bad engagement rate?
- This page does not rate your number against a benchmark, because we have no published benchmark we can source. It gives you the figure and the method so you can compare like with like.
