Mashable video downloader

Paste a Mashable video link, preview the video, and save the file to your device. It works on public video pages, needs no account, and the video comes from Mashable’s video host to you, not through us.

Only download videos you made or have permission to use. We do not store or host anything: the file goes from Mashable to your device.

How to save a video

  1. Copy the link: open the video on Mashable and copy the address from your browser.
  2. Paste it in the box above and press Get video.
  3. Watch the preview, then press Download video to keep the file.

The file comes from Mashable’s servers straight to your device, so it uses your connection, not ours.

How this works

Paste a link to a public Mashable video page. We read the address of its video file from the page, and your browser downloads the file from the host Mashable’s player uses, so the video never passes through our server and we keep no copy. You get a preview of the file on your device and a Download video button that saves it, within a limited number of downloads per hour.

Questions

Where does the video come from?
From the video host Mashable’s player uses, straight to your device. We read the file’s address from the public page and your browser downloads it. We do not store, host or relay the video.
Which quality do I get?
The first MP4 Mashable’s player lists, its best one. On the videos we checked that was 720p.
Why does it say the video has no file?
Some older Mashable videos point at a host that no longer exists, so their file is gone. Mashable’s own player cannot play them either. The page says so, and the lookup costs nothing.
Which links work?
Video pages that look like mashable.com/video/burnbot-rx2. Articles with a video inside them are a different kind of page and do not work here.
Is it allowed?
Download only videos you made or have permission to use. Videos on Mashable belong to Mashable or to whoever licensed them to it, and posting one as your own can infringe their copyright and Mashable’s terms.
Is there a limit?
Yes. Each visitor gets a limited number of downloads per hour, so the tool stays free for everyone. When you reach it, the page says when it resets.
