Dailymotion subtitle downloader
Paste a Dailymotion video link and save its captions as an SRT or VTT subtitle file, or as plain text. It works when the video has a caption track, and says so plainly when it does not.
How this works
Paste a link to a public Dailymotion video. We read the caption track Dailymotion publishes for it, without listening to the audio, and your browser builds the SRT, VTT or text file from those captions, so we keep no copy. You get a preview and the files, marked auto-generated where Dailymotion made them, or a plain message when the video has no track.
Questions
- Which videos have subtitles?
- Videos with a caption track on Dailymotion. Most are generated automatically by Dailymotion, and the result says when they are. A video with no track has nothing to save, and this tool does not transcribe audio itself.
- Which language do I get?
- A track the creator uploaded when there is one, otherwise the first track Dailymotion lists. The API takes a language, GET /v1/dailymotion/video/transcript?language=en, if you need a specific one.
- Are the subtitles accurate?
- They are what Dailymotion published. Auto-generated captions can mishear names and jargon, and we do not correct them.
- Is it allowed?
- Save only subtitles you made or have permission to use. That a caption file is public does not make it free to reuse, and republishing someone else’s words can infringe their copyright and Dailymotion’s terms.
- Is there a limit?
- Yes. Each visitor gets a limited number of downloads per hour, so the tool stays free for everyone. When you reach it, the page says when it resets.
