Instagram thumbnail downloader

Paste an Instagram reel or post link and save its cover image to your device. It works on public posts, needs no account, and the image comes from Instagram to you, not through us.

Only save thumbnails you made or have permission to use. We do not store or host anything: the file goes from Instagram to your device.

How to save a thumbnail

  1. Copy the link: on Instagram tap Share, then Copy link, or copy the address from your browser.
  2. Paste it in the box above and press Get thumbnail.
  3. Check the preview, then press Download thumbnail to keep the file.

The file comes from Instagram’s servers straight to your device, so it uses your connection, not ours.

How this works

Paste a link to a public Instagram reel or post, one anyone can open without signing in. We look up the address of its cover image, and your browser downloads the file from Instagram directly, so it never passes through our server and we keep no copy. You get a preview and a button that saves it, within a limited number of downloads per hour.

Questions

Where does the thumbnail come from?
From Instagram’s own servers, straight to your device. We look up the address and your browser downloads the file. We do not store, host or relay it.
What size is it?
The size Instagram’s public page publishes for that post, which varies. We save that file as it is, with no upscaling.
Does it save the video too?
No, only the cover image. The Instagram reel downloader saves the video.
Is it allowed?
Save only thumbnails you made or have permission to use. That a file is public does not make it free to reuse, and posting someone else’s work as your own can infringe their copyright and Instagram’s terms.
Is there a limit?
Yes. Each visitor gets a limited number of downloads per hour, so the tool stays free for everyone. When you reach it, the page says when it resets.
