TikTok transcript extractor
Paste a TikTok video link and get its captions as plain text, with timestamps, or as an SRT file. It works when the video has a caption track, and says so plainly when it does not.
How this works
TikTok attaches a caption track to some videos, usually spoken ones. This tool asks for that track and reassembles its timed cues into text. It does not listen to the audio, so a video with no track has no transcript here, and the tool says that instead of returning an empty box.
When the track was generated by TikTok’s speech recognition the result is marked auto-generated, and such captions can mishear names and jargon. For the background on where the track lives and why no official API returns it, read how to get a TikTok video transcript.

-H "x-api-key: $KEY"Questions
- Which TikTok videos have a transcript?
- Videos that carry a caption track. TikTok only publishes captions for some videos, usually spoken ones, and a video without a track has nothing to extract. This tool reads the track; it does not listen to the audio.
- Why does it say a video has no captions?
- Because the video has no caption track on the public page. That is a fact about the video, not about your link. The tool does not transcribe audio itself, so it cannot fill the gap.
- Are the captions accurate?
- They are what TikTok published. When the track is auto-generated, the result says so, and auto-generated captions can mishear names and jargon.
- Do short links like vm.tiktok.com work?
- Not here. Open the short link in a browser and paste the full tiktok.com/@name/video/… address it lands on.
- Do I need an account?
- No. The tool runs against our own API with our key. For many videos or your own code, the API endpoint is GET /v1/tiktok/transcript at 1 credit per video, and a video with no captions is not charged.
