Instagram highlight viewer
Enter an Instagram handle or profile link to list the highlight reels pinned to the profile, with their titles, covers and links. It lists highlights; it does not play the stories inside.
How this works
This reads the public highlights tray of an Instagram profile, the part a visitor who is not signed in can see, and returns each highlight's title, cover image and link. The stories inside a highlight are not fetched, so there is nothing to play here.
Instagram does not publish how many stories a highlight holds, so that figure is a dash. A profile with no highlights returns an empty list, which is a real answer and is shown as one.
Instagram sometimes refuses logged-out requests, and it gives the same refusal for a handle that does not exist as for a request it blocked. When that happens the lookup can take up to a minute to give up; check the spelling and try again.
Questions
- Does this play the stories inside a highlight?
- No. It lists the highlight reels pinned to a profile: title, cover image and a link to each on instagram.com. The stories inside are not fetched or shown here.
- What if a profile has no highlights?
- Then you get an empty list, and the tool says so. "No public highlights" is a real answer, not an error: many accounts never pin any.
- Why is the story count a dash?
- Instagram does not publish how many stories sit in a highlight on the public page, so the number is shown as a dash rather than guessed.
- Why did my lookup fail?
- Instagram refuses some logged-out requests, and it gives the same refusal for a handle that does not exist as for a request it blocked, so a missing account and a block look identical. Check the spelling and try again.
- Can I get this in code?
- Yes: GET /v1/instagram/user-highlights at 1 credit per profile returns the same list as data.items.
