X GIF downloader

The file comes from X’s servers straight to your device, so it uses your connection, not ours.
How this works
Paste a link to a public X or Twitter post with a GIF, one anyone can open without signing in. We look up the address of the file, and your browser downloads it from X directly, so it never passes through our server and we keep no copy. X stores a GIF as a silent MP4, so that is what you save, within a limited number of downloads per hour.
Questions
- Why is the file an MP4 and not a .gif?
- X converts every uploaded GIF to a silent MP4 and serves only that, so that is the file there is. We save it exactly as X stores it, and we do not convert it back. An MP4 loops in most players and can be posted wherever video is allowed.
- Where does the file come from?
- From X’s own servers, straight to your device. We look up the address and your browser downloads the file. We do not store, host or relay it.
- Why did it say the post has no GIF?
- The post holds a video or a photo, or nothing at all. X keeps GIFs apart from videos, and the X video downloader and X image downloader save those.
- Is it allowed?
- Save only GIFs you made or have permission to use. That a file is public does not make it free to reuse, and posting someone else’s work as your own can infringe their copyright and X’s terms.
- Is there a limit?
- Yes. Each visitor gets a limited number of downloads per hour, so the tool stays free for everyone. When you reach it, the page says when it resets.
