TikTok username checker
Enter a TikTok username to see whether a public profile exists for it. The result is one of three answers: a profile exists, none was found, or the check could not be made.
How this works
The tool asks TikTok for the public profile at that handle. If one comes back, it shows the name and avatar. If TikTok says there is none, you get “no public profile found”, and if the request fails for any other reason you get “could not check”, because a failed request tells you nothing about the name.
It never says a name is available. A missing public profile is what you see for a name nobody has taken, and also for private, suspended, banned and reserved ones. Only TikTok’s own sign-up can say whether you can register it.
Questions
- Does “no public profile found” mean the username is available?
- No. TikTok answers the same way for a name that was never taken and for one that is private, suspended, banned or reserved. Only TikTok’s own sign-up can tell you whether you can register a name.
- What does “could not check” mean?
- The request was blocked, timed out or failed, so we know nothing about the name. Try again in a moment.
- Can it find private accounts?
- Not reliably. TikTok’s answer for a missing profile reads “does not exist, is private, or was removed”, so a private account can come back as not found.
- What are the rules for a TikTok username?
- One to 24 characters, using letters, digits, underscores and periods, and it cannot end with a period. The checker applies those rules before it asks TikTok.
