Awario vs a mention-monitoring API

Awario is the low-cost end of social listening: a Starter plan at $49 or $29 a month depending on billing period, 3 topics with unlimited keywords, 30,000 new mentions a month, X, Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube and news, PDF reports and an API on every plan. That is a lot of tool for the money, and for many small brands it is the sensible default. A per-check mention API is narrower still and cheaper again; the reason to pick it is not price alone but which platforms you need and whether new posts should arrive at your code.

What does Awario do better?

X, Facebook, Vimeo and news at an entry price

Their site lists monitoring for Reddit, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo and news. X, Facebook and the press are three places we do not check at all, and Awario covers them on a plan that starts below $50 a month.

An API on every plan, not an add-on

API access is listed on Starter, Pro and Enterprise alike. That removes the usual reason a developer avoids a listening suite: you can pull mentions into your own system without paying a second fee, which Brand24 and Mention both charge for.

Reports and analytics we do not attempt

Every plan lists PDF and white-label reports, and Awario offers sentiment analysis as a feature. We return posts and nothing on top of them. If the output of monitoring is a report for a client, Awario produces one and we would leave you to build it.

Choose Awario if

  • X, Facebook or news coverage matters to you, on a small budget.
  • You want reports, white-label or PDF, without building them.
  • A predictable monthly fee suits you better than paying per check.
  • You track many keywords per topic and want 30,000 mentions a month included.

Choose TrueScrape if

  • You are a founder who wants to type your product name into a free checker, see mentions in seconds with no account, and then watch the term in a dashboard with one click, with no seat or plan.
  • You are a developer: one POST /v1/monitors with a term and an optional webhook URL, signed webhooks carrying only new posts, the same API key and credits as every other endpoint, and MCP tools for agents.
  • TikTok, Threads, Hacker News or Bluesky matter to you, none of which Awario lists.
  • You want a push to your webhook when something new appears rather than polling an API.

Questions people actually ask

How much does Awario cost?
On 2026-11-01 their pricing page listed Starter at $49 or $29 a month, Pro at $149 or $89 and Enterprise at $399 or $249; each pair is a monthly-billed and an annually-billed rate. Starter covers 3 topics, 30,000 new mentions a month and one team member. API access and PDF reports are on every plan.
Does Awario monitor TikTok, Threads or Hacker News?
None of the three appears in the sources Awario lists, which are Reddit, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo and news. If your audience is on TikTok, Threads, Hacker News or Bluesky, a monitor that checks those platforms directly will see posts Awario does not.
How do I set it up as a founder or as a developer?
A founder can type the brand name into the free checker at /tools/brand-mentions, see mentions in seconds without an account, and click "Watch this term" to get a dashboard feed. A developer sends one POST /v1/monitors with the term and an optional webhook URL; new posts arrive as signed webhooks, and the same tools are exposed over MCP. Docs are at /docs/monitors.
What is the honest case for Awario here?
For under $50 a month it covers X, Facebook and news, includes an API and produces reports, which is more than we offer on every one of those axes. If those are the platforms your brand lives on, it is the better buy, and a cheaper per-check bill does not make up for a source you never see.

How do you see who mentions your brand right now?

The free brand mention checker shows recent mentions with no account. Brand mention monitoring covers what a watched term costs, and how to track brand mentions without a subscription compares the paid tools.
